Emergency Basic Life Support & General First Aid

Duration: 16 Hours

This is a preparatory course for young people about to undertake training and expeditions as part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.
Although necessarily longer, in order to better prepare them for the rigours of the great outdoors, this course leads to the Emergency First Aid at Work certificate. Lasting for three years, this qualification makes candidates a better prospect to employers, either on the completion of full time employment, or during a gap year.

  • (Chest compressions—Rescue breaths)
  • Choking (adult child & infant)
  • Asthma attacks
  • Anaphylactic shock
  • Drowning.
  • Hypovolemic shock
  • Severe bleeding— Minor bleeding
  • Heart attack—Angina attack—Stroke
  • Head injury concussion— compression
  • Seizures in adults
  • Fainting
  • Broken Bones— Soft tissue injuries
  • Burns
  • Eye injury
  • Swallowed poisons
  • Heat exhaustion & heat stroke
  • Hypothermia
